3 Pole Active CW Filter Kit – Centered at 600 Hz
This audio filter is intended
for adding onto simpler, typically home brewed, receivers or transceivers, to
improve legibility and decrease noise/QRM.  While it will work well with commercially
produced radios etc., this equipment tends to have much more sophisticated filtering
of the IF and AF stages already built in.
The filter is a
3-Pole fixed frequency active filter using op-amps. It has a center frequency
of 600 Hz, and shape factor (SF) of 8:1
This filter is
intended to take the audio from the speaker or headphone jack of the radio and
then feed speakers or headphones with the filtered audio output. It operates
from 9-15 VDC and can be powered by a power supply or 9 volt battery. The power consumption is approx 3 mA hence a 9 volt battery will last a long time.
Operation is very simple with audio being fed in the input jack and headphones or powered speakers connected on the output jack. A two way screw terminal block is provided for power connections (9 Volt battery or DC power supply).
Using well established op-amp technology this filter will provide improved performance when receiving CW on noisy/cluttered bands.
Note this is a narrow filter and hence not suitable for audio (SSB) reception.
